Stars at the Baths |

A sensational dinner show in a heritage listed Bath House
Celebrate seven star-studded decades at the beautiful Blue Baths with an evening extravaganza of music, laughter, fine food & theatre.
Daredevil dives and sparkling splashes. Soggy woolen suits, to sexy ever diminishing, "call the fire brigade" models. The Blue Baths has seen it all, the fads and fashions and the famous. Come with us as we take the musical tour through seven scintillating decades. |
|
Witness the super stylish arrival of La Diva, be transfixed by the magical Phantom of the Baths, swing with those Andrews girls, relive the Ratpack and evocative Elvis era's, disco with Abba, Dusty and Tom while you savour the delectable cuisine and stunning ambience within the Lido Lounge – once the Blue Baths adult pool.
Flanked by the gorgeous Government Gardens and the iconic tudor-esque Bath House Museum the fabulous art deco Blue Baths has ever been the place to see and be seen.
By the opening of the Blue Baths in 1933 corsets had lost a lot of traction, but the purveyors of boning, strapping ,elastic and zippers had found new life in the swimsuit business.
Corsetry slid out of the closet and into the pool. Modesty aprons of course! Meanwhile the Andrews Sisters boogie woogied their way into everyone's hearts. |
By the 1950s-60's enter the era of lycra. The "stretch and pull on" suit had arrived . Aprons were consigned to the kitchen, by both sexes, and legs were definitely on the rise! It was the sensuous style of Ol' Blue Eyes, and the Rat Pack that woo-ed and wowed.
The bikini, all the go in ancient Crete, took the long road back, bursting onto the fashion scene in the late 60's.
At first the two halves were decorously linked by mesh, ingenious loops , rings and triangles, before the realization that both halves could be self supporting, sunk in.
By the dazzling disco daze of Abba, Dusty Springfield and Welsh crooner Tom Jones ( doing his best to make swimsuits redundant) the now accepted style gained appeal in direct proportion to fabric shed.
The Blue Baths has seen it all - the fabulous fashions, the flashy fads and the fantastically famous. Come with us for an unforgettable evening as we take a musical journey through seven sensationally star-studded decades….1930-2000. |

“This show is fantastic! It has proved to be one of the real highlights of the tour for many of our guests over the past season. The entertainment is world-class….quite interactive, with plenty of laughs and fun, a mixed genre of music – swing, jazz, light opera and disco as the evening unfolds. Visitors also enjoy the spectacular venue, a superb 3 course plated dinner, dancing and the grand finale around the pools. Highly recommended.”
Blue Baths show is excellent, well done for finding this awesome product as people love it and its worth every cent!
They had a great night – this shows a winner!! It was agreed to have been the highlight night of the tour for those that went along….
Blue Baths Show was excellent!!! Its a good old fashioned dine and dance and the songs get people tapping away to the music straight away. The performers are great and really get the audience involved and laughing. Even with our tiny group we were up dancing and singing. I and my passengers all believe it to be well worth the money paid for it ... the food was also great in my opinion.
Jo & Warren are more than happy to do whatever they can to keep us happy ... and that included using their own vehicles to drive me and the group to the hotel when the taxi was late!

Pirates of the Blue Pearl |
 |
A nautically themed evening of feasting, flagons, and festivities. (And, needless to say, fun.)
Yer scoundrels and scallywags alike flock to the Government Gardens, bedecked in their piratey finery...
The party-goers temporarily seized the petanque court from its octogenarian custodians to swill grog and compare outfits until the (self-proclaimed) Pirate King sees fit to invite one and all inside for a raucous evening of feasts, flagons and festivities at the Blue Baths. |
|
Merriment will be had and (only semi-restrained) debauchery done as guests dance many a jig, dine on a sumptuous spread of delectable edibles (of which the lamb shanks & pork ribs in a bucket, deserve a special mention as does the perfectly petite banoffee pies) and compete for rummy prizes in competitions such as "Most Bountiful Treasure" and "Most Brazen Buccaneer" not to mention the highly prized bounty for "Safest Port in a Storm".
Craig "The Pirate King" Davson, his trusty shipmate Samuel and the crew of saucy wenches provide resplendent (at times hair-raising) entertainment as the night rocks and ripens. Many a flask will be raised and many a hallelujah called to the dazzling Heather "Shiver Me Timbers" Brocket's lusty rendition of "It's Raining Men" .
The newest addition to the Blue Baths, a magnificent and dastardly 20 foot seafaring vessel - Blue Pearl - which provides the centrepiece of the show, is just begging to set sail again, and its master's sword is just tingling to be raised… watch this space, and pen an olde email to shows@bluebaths.co.nz to register ye olde yearning for yer very own pirate party. Aaarghh....if its pure fun yer after - yer won't be disappointed. |
